DIRECT RECRUITMENT OF JAILORS
The Government in G.O.Ms.No.1070, Home (Pr.I) Department, dated 2.8.96, have issued orders restoring the method of direct recruitment to the post of Jailor by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission at the ratio of 1:2. Accordingly, the Government in their G.O.Ms.No.484, Home (Pr.I) Department, dated 24.3.2004 appointed six persons including 2 women as Jailors by Direct Recruitment to this Department and the out of six persons, five persons have since been promoted to the category of Superintendent of Prisons on temporary basis and one person is working as Additional Superintendent of Prisons.
DIRECT RECRUITMENT OF PROBATION OFFICERS
The Government in their G.O.Ms.No.246, Home (Pr.I) Department, dated 28.3.2006 have ordered to fill up 14 vacancies in the post of Probation Officers, by direct recruitment through Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission has selected 13 candidates for appointment to the post of Probation Officer in this Department. Out of 13 candidates, 11 candidates have reported for duty as Probation Officers in this Department on 22.9.2008 and they are presently undergoing basic training under Chief Probation Superintendent, Chennai-8.
The posts of Junior Assistant, Typist, Steno Typist and Assistant Jailors of this Department are recruited directly through Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
The Tamil Nadu Uniformed services recruitment board is the agency for the selection of male and female grade II warders to this department.
In G.O.Ms.No.460, Home (Pri.II) Department dated 30.03.2007 Government have approved the estimate of vacancies for the post of Grade II Warder (Men) for the year 2006 – 2007. Based on the above orders, the Chairman, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, Chennai.2 conducted selection process including written test and sent a provisionally select list consisting of 354 candidates and wait the list consist of 55 candidates. Provisionally selected candidates were subjected to Medical Examination and Police verification / Medical Examination reports of and S.B.C.I.D reports 286 candidates are found to be eligible. Superintendent of Prisons, Central Prison – I, II, Puzhal, Trichy, Vellore, Coimbatore have been directed to appoint the candidates in the existing vacancies.
