Opening of new Women Sub Jail at Cuddalore

                Government in G.O.Ms.No.703, Home (Pr.IV) Department, dated 12.08.2005, have sanctioned a sum of Rs.200 Lakhs towards the construction of a new Women Sub Jail at Cuddalore to accommodate 100 prisoners in the premises of the Central Prison, Cuddalore. The prisoners convicted by the court in Cuddalore and Villuppuram Districts will be lodged here. The construction work was entrusted to the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation Ltd. and completed.

Opening of separate ward for prisoners at Government Medical College Hospital at Vellore

 

                Government in G.O.Ms.No.739, Home (Pr.IV) Department, dated 24.05.2007 have sanctioned a sum of Rs.30.87 Lakhs towards the construction of 20 bedded prisoners' ward in Government Medical College Hospital, Vellore at Adukkamparai with Waiting Room for Police personnel to keep close watch over the prisoners and to prevent their escape from Police custody. The P.W.D. has completed the construction work.
